BEING YOURSELF We hear it all the time: “ just be yourself!” We hear it when we are going to a job interview, presenting at an important meeting or when we are meeting someone for the first time. We’ve been hearing since we were adolescents. So, what does being yourself mean? Many times we think that being yourself means doing whatever we want. The problem with that is that more often than not what we want is guided by the ego, and it’s not aligned with what we need. What we “want” has been obscured by years of conditioning and expectations, creating false beliefs about how we should or should not be. What we want is not really who we are or what we need. Do we want fame, power or money?
